Gambier July 4th Parade and Picnic 2017

The celebration will begin on the Kokosing Gap Trail at the train. The Mayor’s speech and presentation of the Citizen of the Year will be at 11:00 a.m. The parade will start at 11:30 a.m. The parade line-up will begin at 10:45 a.m. near the train. The parade will end at the Community Center Park for a community picnic. The Village will provide hamburgers, hot-dogs, water, lemonade, cake and a fruit bowl. Everyone is asked to bring a table setting and a covered dish to share.

6 Miles to Nellie will provide 2 sets of music at the picnic. The first set will begin at 12 noon. Raffle drawings will be drawn in between the 2 sets of music. There will be inflatables and a snow cone/cotton candy machine again this year.

Recycling Bins at Gambier’s Maintenance Barn

Due to the closing of the Recycling Center in Mount Vernon, the Village of Gambier and the Knox County Commissioners have agreed to the placement of 4 recycling containers at the back of the Gambier Maintenance Barn drive, located at 141 Meadow Lane. The driveway into the Maintenance Barn is right before the train at the Kokosing Gap Trail. The containers are on the left end of the loop in the back of the Maintenance Barn.

The containers are available for residents of Knox County to use. They are emptied twice a week by Waste Management. There is postings on the outside of the bins as to what recycling can be deposited in the bins for pick-up. The recycling doesn’t need to be sorted.

Curbside pick-up for Gambier residents will continue to be done on Thursday mornings. Please have your recycling out to the curb by 8:00 a.m.
